Brake Rotors

Upgrading the brake rotors will benefit your vehicle in more ways than you can imagine. As the old saying goes, you can never have too much braking power. Replacing the factory rotors with a better set of aftermarket brake rotors will significantly improve the braking performance and brake pedal feel in any type of weather and track conditions. It will also enhance the styling of your ride. Nothing looks better than a new set of brake rotors peering behind those large, shiny wheels. Sam’s Motorsports is home to an impressive lineup of brake rotors from all the best brands in the aftermarket industry.

The brake rotors are responsible for slowing down the rotation of each wheel as you step on the brake pedal. The brake pads will make contact with the rotors to produce the necessary friction to stop the vehicle. But as the pads make contact with the rotors, kinetic energy is converted to heat energy, and this is where the problem arises.

Make no mistake about it. Moderate amounts of heat will allow the brakes to function more effectively, but excess heat will result in brake fade. The brake rotors are the ones that receive the highest levels of thermal energy. This is the reason why the choosing brake rotors will depend on a lot of factors such as the type of vehicle, your driving style, and the intended application (whether for street or track use).

Brake rotors are available in a variety of configurations. The smooth brake rotor is enough for daily driving as it offers more surface area than a comparable drilled or slotted rotor. Compact sedans and sports coupes from the factory are usually equipped with smooth brake rotors for competent all-season performance.

Slotted brake rotors are designed to combat brake fade while still maintaining adequate stopping power. The slots in the rotor allow the hot gasses to quickly escape from the surface of the pad to prevent brake fade. Cross-drilled rotors are favored for high-performance vehicles not simply because they make your car look cool, but the drill holes allow water or moisture to escape from the surface to ensure maximum braking in the wet.

Other brands offer brake rotors with a combined drilled and slotted design. Sam’s Motorsports is home to an extensive array of aftermarket brake rotors for any type of domestic or import vehicle.
