Power Steering Reservoirs

The early vehicles were heavy, clumsy, and extremely hard to drive. Definitely, car manufacturers went all out to offer practical solutions and create new components, such as the power steering system that makes a vehicle more maneuverable. The very first passenger car power steering system was introduced on the 1951 Chrysler Imperial. It was hydraulic-assisted, and its operation was ensured by the power steering pump.

Today you'll hardly find a vehicle not equipped with the power steering, and no wonder why. Before its introduction, one had to muscle the vehicle though every turn and curve, which was especially hard at low speeds. Now, the hydraulic pressure developed by a small pump helps to augment steering effort of the steering wheel, so the more torque is applied to the steering wheel, the more force gets to the road wheels.
