Modern cars are usually equipped with rack-and-pinion steering systems. But there are some off-road vehicles that are still equipped with the recirculating ball steering. In a rack and pinion system, the steering column is attached to a pinion gear. This allows the rack gear slide left or right as you turn the wheel. The tie rod assemblies are linked to the tie rod assemblies of the vehicle. Symptoms such as noisy steering, clunks, and pulling can be blamed on faulty tie rods and rack ends.

The recirculating ball steering system can be found mostly on older vehicles and trucks. But there are a few modern vehicles that still utilize this system, such as the Jeep Wrangler (except the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler which was upgraded to an electro-hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering system). While the recirculating ball steering is not as precise as the rack-and-pinion system, it is inherently more durable and is best suited for tough and demanding off-road driving conditions. This is the reason why top European brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz insisted on the recirculating ball steering system for their vehicles up until the early 90’s.

Alignment Components

Did you recently lower your vehicle using lowering springs or a set of coilover suspension? Is your truck fitted with a lift kit along with bigger wheels and tires? It is time to take a closer look at the camber components of your ride. Lowering, lifting, or installing wider and bigger wheels will significantly affect the on-road behavior of your ride. If your vehicle has handling problems, unnecessary vibration, or premature wear on the wheels and steering/suspension components, you should take a closer look at Sam’s Motorsports’ awesome array of performance alignment kits and camber components. Paying close attention to the camber components will ensure the camber, caster, and toe are in the right specifications to give your vehicle great handling and even tire wear.

Ball Joints

Ball joints are an important part of your vehicle’s steering and suspension system. The ball joints are responsible for connecting the steering knuckles to the control arm. This is why the front wheels are able to turn in both directions in a smooth and controlled manner. Faulty ball joints will produce loose and clunky steering, steering or suspension noises, and damage to the control arms in severe cases. A brand new set of ball joints will revive the steering and handling of your vehicle. Sam’s Motorsports is home to an assortment of replacement or aftermarket ball joints for any type of import and domestic car, pickup truck, or SUV.

End Links

Does your vehicle lean too much when attacking corners? You probably need to change the end links in your ride. Faulty end links can cause a barrage of problems like unpredictable handling, lousy steering, and noise. The end links or sway bar end links are responsible for connecting the sway bar (or the stabilizer/anti-roll bar) to the suspension members. The end links are equipped with bushings that can deteriorate and fail as your car gets older. Sam’s Motorsports is the place to find aftermarket end links from the best OEM manufacturers to solve all your problems with faulty or bad end links.

Power Steering Reservoirs

The early vehicles were heavy, clumsy, and extremely hard to drive. Definitely, car manufacturers went all out to offer practical solutions and create new components, such as the power steering system that makes a vehicle more maneuverable. The very first passenger car power steering system was introduced on the 1951 Chrysler Imperial. It was hydraulic-assisted, and its operation was ensured by the power steering pump.

Steering Stabilizer

Steering stabilizers are similar to shock absorbers, except for the fact they are mounted in a horizontal direction. Steering stabilizers are a must for trucks and heavy-duty off-road vehicles as they prevent certain problems like absorbing bump steer and preventing shimmy or death wobble. The stabilizer is responsible for eliminating steering vibration in all types of driving conditions such as when towing/hauling heavy cargo or when navigating over extremely rutted terrain. Keep your steering smooth and ready to tackle all sorts of terrain with Sam’s Motorsports’ incredible lineup of the best quality steering stabilizers and dampers. We offer steering stabilizers at the lowest prices so you can increase your savings while improving the road manners of your vehicle.

Tie Rods

The tie rods are a critical part of the rack-and-pinion steering system. The tie rods are responsible for moving the wheels in either direction. The tie rods are prone to wear and tear as your vehicle rides over bumps, potholes, and minor undulations on the road surface. Since the tie rods are attached to the ends of the steering rack, the first signs of a faulty tie rod are imprecise or floaty steering and a weird knocking sound that can be heard as you turn the steering wheel. Check out Sam’s Motorsports’ lineup of tie rods and other steering and suspension components and learn how easy it is to save on a brand new set of tie rods for your ride.

Wheel Hubs & Bearings

The wheel hub serves as the mounting assembly for the wheels. The studs are attached to the wheel hubs to secure the wheels as you drive the car. The wheel bearings are mounted inside the wheel hub and are responsible for turning the wheels smoothly. Problems with the wheel hubs and bearings will result to unnecessary vibration and a severe grinding noise. In worst cases, one or all of the studs might break and cause an unfortunate accident. Thankfully, Sam’s Motorsports is here to help. We have a great selection of wheel hubs and bearings for any type of domestic or import vehicle.
